Black Lights

Black lights offer UV light that produces fluorescent colors glow much brighter than normal. You may have seen black lights used in cosmic bowling or in Halloween decorations. Many teenagers have black light fixtures in their bedrooms to light up their fluorescent posters. These special lights can be found in a variety of fixtures.

High intensity black lights can light up a large room with its 165 watt bulb. This is made to replace a regular light bulb by just screwing it into place. You can also find an eighteen inch fixture that you simple plug in and turn on but is only 15 watts of black light. A hard to find item is the newer black lights that are available on a string. These can be used indoors or out and come with replacement bulbs. A black light known as a cannon is also available. This huge light gives off 400 watts of black light and is definitely not for home use. This light is often used in large outdoor gatherings or to attract customers to a certain area.

There are a few handheld black lights available. They can run from under $10 and are often sold by the case. These are often used to check hand stamps or to apply fluorescent face paint. Many use these fluorescent lights to search for antique glass which gives off that certain glow.

Novelty black light items are also a favorite. Children enjoy the invisible writer that is available. Just write with the invisible ink and shine a black light pen on it to see your hidden message. This invisible ink is also available by the bottle. Teens will enjoy writing on their walls with this ink, only to be able to view it when the black light is turned on. Did you know that they make bubbles that glow when using black lights? Renting a bubble machine for your next celebration would be a great way to entertain your friends.
