Night Lights
Whether you have children in your home or not, night lights are an
inexpensive way to help keep your home safely lit at night. Newer night
lights now come with built in photo sensors. These sensors will allow
the light to automatically turn on with darkness. This can be useful
for younger children or adults who would forget to turn on their night
light.
A newer model of night light is one with a sound sensor. This night
light detects movement and will light your path as you walk past it.
These night lights will need to be switched on in order to operate.
Many night lights have safety covers making them child resistant.
Another new model is a contemporary glowing green light that uses
very little electricity. If you left this light on 24 hours a day for
seven days a week, after one year it will use close to two cents worth
of electricity. The soft green glow of this contemporary light is easy
on the eyes and very affordable. These lime green lights stay cool
to the touch making them safe to have around children and pets. Children
find them difficult to remove from their socket due to the thinness
of the night light.
Other types of night lights include a programmable standard light
bulb. These contain a built in electronic chip that provides the bulb
with different functions. Smart bulbs or IQ lighting bulbs last twice
as long as your ordinary household bulb. Often older adults use these
bulbs to make it appear as if someone is turning their lamp on during
the night to help keep intruders away.
Unusual night lights can be found at lamp and lighting specialty shops.
A popular night light is one that includes a dimmer built right in.
With just a flip of a switch, you select the brightness of this night
light. Night lights are built with safety in mind. Most night lights
use 4 to 7 watt bulbs. A brighter light can be purchased that contains
a mini fluorescent tube. Some of these night lights have adjustable
coverings to help dim the light when necessary. If you are purchasing
a night light for your child, there are many themes to match just about
any décor.
